I watched a lot of movies when I was in Norway. I learnt that Norway has a different history compared to Sweden. When I now tried to remember a film, Max Manus is one of them. A few scenes took place in Stockholm, and I remembered that it felt strange. At that time I had lived for a few years in Norway so when I spoke Swedish I sometimes used Norwegian words without thinking. I was more Norwegian than Swedish literally speaking, and I remember that I had a culture chock when I returned to Sweden. Something that I could never imagine since Norway is one of the Nordic countries. I feel happy about the years in Norway, and please listen to the beauty of this language.

I have had a rather intensive day with lots of focus on exercise. I was not going to write more about the Corona virus, but when I read about the death of ophthalmologist Dr Li Wenliang from China, I had to write. He raised the alarm on the threat of the Wuhan coronavirus in December 2019 that it could have the same potential as a “SARS-like” virus. Wenliang died this Friday morning. He was “unfortunately infected with corona virus during his work in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic,” the hospital said (CNN).
This reminded me of when I worked at the pharmacy in Norway more than a decade ago. The swine flu caused a lot of work for the national health authorities, and it was classified as pandemic. The corona virus has not reached this level yet according to the WHO. I found this review on the corona virus, and there you can see two illustrations. Figure 1 shows the timeline from December of the Corona virus, and figure 2 shows the global distribution today. The text is rather detailed on biology. Please see the review: The Novel Corona virus
When I worked at the pharmacy in Norway, I worked closely to a medical health center. The customers were happy to get the aid they needed. A lot of people had vaccination against the flu, but later, unfortunately, severe side effects occurred for some people. It is always difficult to know in advance how treatments may turn out, and one should also ask the question “what would the result have been if there had been no vaccination?”. Viruses are clever. They can survive in conditions where human beings cannot live. And they also challenge philosophy since they are living organisms, they can duplicate like germs, but is it life?
You might have noticed that I don’t write every day and that depends on lack of time. And also, of course, I have to have something to write about. Currently, a lot is concerning the Corona virus. I wash my hands more often than I usually do since other viruses also are active now. No matter what, it is good to have this habit. Viruses are fascinating; how they have developed and learnt how to survive and duplicate in tough environmental conditions. From a philosophical perspective they are very interesting since they pose the question “what is life?”. A difficult definition.
I have a day off tomorrow and I need a lot of training. It was so good to go for walks and also run last weekend. Tomorrow I will go for spinning and also a few crunches and push ups. Wish me luck!
A couple of weeks ago I got christmas greetings from Nepal. That is really far away, and from a very fascinating country with its nature and religion. This card has travelled for some weeks before I got it. The stamps are so beautiful so I had to have a photo of it. When I studied at the Department of pharmacology in Gothenburg, I got to know friends from far away and we are still in touch. The internet has developed over decades and that makes communication very rapid and convenient. But, I must admit that I am a bit conservative since I like to get snail mails.
Facebook, Instagram, e-mails, twitter etc etc have completely changed the way we communicate and stay in touch with each other. I thought a little about it, and still do not have a good answer. Need some more time to reflect. But the internet has contributed to world peace. No doubt. Sometimes it is misused, and at that point it can be dangerous. I am sure that there will be more revolutionising inventions. Maybe something for how we eg travel. Some kind of ecological fuel to replace oil. What do you think?
