Summer plans?

Last summer was my very first time in Rome, Italy. I have thought a lot about Italy lately since they have been in focus due to the causes of the Corona virus. People are suffering and people have died. Not only patients, but also medical staff. It is an extraordinary situation. I can only find one positive thing about this virus, and that is that it is global. Everybody has some kind of relation to this Corona virus whether we like it or not. Acceptance is my one and only summary. Various countries are differently affected, and the way of dealing with the Corona virus is also opposing.

As I understand, north part of Italy has a close connection to Asia. Like the ancient silk roads, and maybe that is why Italy is suffering. I was very happy to see Rome, and it also gave my cooking a new touch. Pasta is tasty. No doubt.

I still have a lot to write about Italy. Strange to see the empty roads and squares in the news. Currently, it is impossible to make plans for this summer. I will however focus on exercise. Right now long walks like I did in Rome, but later running in June. I am lucky to have these nice Italian memories. Sharing one of those sweet moments. What is your favourite photo from last summer?

Corona virus daily life

To live normally is difficult but possible. Or better expressed – it must be possible. Personally, I live according to recommendations such as social distancing, wash my hands etc etc. To interrupt person-to-person transmission. I saw several runners yesterday when I went for a walk. I walk as fast as I can and I will start running again when the Corona virus is attenuated.

We had a vaccin last time against the Swine flu, but not this time. That vaccin was accompanied with side effects (narcolepsy), but now people are dying since there is no vaccin. This is easy to understand, and I hope people can see that there must always be a health cost-benefit analysis before a new medicin can be clinically introduced. These are tough decisions for health authorities.

To put this very moment in a perspective is problematic since we would like to have a solution before making decisions. A right or a wrong answer. Some decisions must be taken even though we are not 100% sure about the outcome. To trust the gut feeling. In ten years we will say “why did we do that, or why didn’t we go for that decision”. It is interesting to note that the devastating Polio was globally eradicated when a vaccine was introduced.

We must also trust that the various Ministries talk to each, because this is difficult. To put eg health, economics and foreign policies in relation to each other. Future research is needed. How can we prevent a new virus outbreak? Will SARS appear in a new form? Questions must be dared to be asked and I hope the WHO get the correct information.

Yesterday was no sunshine so I searched for an old photo from last spring and found this with snow drops.

Happy Easter 🐥

Quarantine. Hand washing. Social distancing. Desinfect phone. 1-2 meter distance.

The Corona virus is still dominating. These times are difficult since social distancing is important. To stay at home as much as possible. However, I had to go for a walk this afternoon. I cannot explain, but I really don’t feel like going for exercise such as running. That has to wait. Running is forbidden in France. There will be sunshine on Monday so I will go for a walk with my camera. I will see if there are any progresses with new flowers.

Take care of yourself these days.

Endurance – corona marathon

Life has changed for the whole world. New habits concerning health have been introduced. This is necessary because this virus challenges life. For sure, everybody will sooner or later pass away, but it is a tragedy for families who are suffering from the effects of the corona virus. Endurance is important now because it is exhausting to live with the corona everyday. Sometimes there is too much news and reports, and it can be good to stay off social media etc for a while. Just to relax.

It is soon Easter weekend. I cannot go to sweetie and cutie. Molly looks more like a Spaniel now since she has more fur with curls, I’ve heard.  A long walk with them would be wonderful, and also to find out if Molly likes running sports. But that has to wait til the virus is hampered.

Sub-clinical* symptoms

Long time no see. I am here again. Writing to you. The corona virus situation in the world is serious. I have paid a lot attention to the (political) development in various regions and countries. There are so many variables to consider and that makes it very complicated. More than three dimensions. It is important to stay calm, because panic would not improve outcome.

Respect is very crucial. Some people still cough right into the face of other people. Spreading evil and illness on purpose. Several countries have introduced wearing face mask. It is not 100% protective, but at least it shows that you think of yourself as much as other fellow beings. The virus was, and probably is informed about this.

This biological terrorist attack will most probably occur again in the future. In a new shape. Early, Emmanuel Macron talked about an invisible enemy. I thought about the existentialist classic  “La peste” by Camus. Moreover, a field hospital has been built in Stockholm. I do not understand why they haven’t started to use this hospital immediately, or is that to accept that we have a war with an invisible army infront of us? Are we at war? If that is the case, I think we should accept and go for actions.

Stefan Löfven’s (prime minister of Sweden) huge current challenge is to have the different Ministries (departementen) talking to each other. This is not an easy task, because the government has been built in this way for decades. It is a conservative government where traditions are important. I truly hope that he will act with responsibility because after this pandemic has declined, and we know the result of the virus, the different Ministries could blame each other depending the outcome. Nobody will take the responsibility. Löfven has this duty in his hands.

Rather early I started to watch some scenes from M*A*S*H. As usual, smile helps to move on in life and that boosters the immune system. They mentioned some about Florence Nightingale being promiscuous. True or not, I don’t know. Take care.

Pandemic

This week, the WHO has declared the Covid-19 outbreak to be a pandemic. This is now a global issue. Countries worldwide make various actions. Closing borders. Closing schools. Spain has quarantine. Food stores are running out of groceries in Sweden. There are different views even among doctors how to react now. Political, common sense decisions are taken. This is where biology meets economics and politics. This very moment.
