February

The light is returning, but it is very windy. Winter time I am a little like “Skalman”, one of the characters in the World’s strongest beer – Bamse. Skalman has his eat-and sleep bell and his life is very schedueled. That is my life winter time. When you start to see some light in the mornings, more energy is returning. I miss running, so I have been for walks instead now since I like to be outdoors. Sharing a photo from one of these walks this winter.

Relaxing Sunday

A new week is ahead. Sundays are perfect to prepare for the upcoming week. Time is so precious so with a little planning you get a better work-life balance. When is it possible for exercise? What kind of training do I need this week? During many years sports has had high priority in my life. And it needs scheduling. I started this Sunday with a healthy and tasty breakfast including a big cup of tea with honey. And I feel happy since I have time for reading and listening to music. It was a long time ago, but this Sunday I listened to the radio where “Public Service” makes jokes in a satiric manner on the news and politics that have been in focus this week.

My muscles are a little stiff, so I will go for a walk today. It is rather fresh if you have a lot of clothes on. Yesterday was chilly, but today is rainy. Maybe some easy stretch afterwards. Sundays are perfect for waffles. That is more of a tradition when I am in the countryside. Today I will just have some salmon, rice and salad. Perhaps I will end this day with a mini-spa consisting of a face mask. The air is so dry winter time, so the skin needs to be taken care of. I love flowers so this Sunday I share tulips. A great symbol for arriving spring.

Time off

Sometimes time off is needed. I have been exercising a lot lately, but once in a while rest is also needed. There is always a balance between anabolism and catabolism. Currently, it is important to be careful since there are so many active viruses, in particular the Corona virus. I get upset when people don’t cover their nose and mouth when they sneeze and cough. A never ending story.

I found such a beautiful movie about the Australian koalas. Some of them have been taken care of, and that makes me happy. There is hope. Please watch this film from the TIME on twitter. Unfortunately, I am not that good at computers, but if you cannot click the link, try to copy and past. And don’t forget to enlarge the window so you can better watch the film.

❤️ St. Valentine’s Day ❤️

The feast of Saint Valentine will be celebrated this Friday on the 14th of February. Originally it was a western cultural and religious Christian feast day honouring the Roman priest Saint Valentinus. Today it is more of a commercial celebration of love and affection in many regions of the world. The Feast of Saint Valentine was established by Pope Gelasius I in AD (anno domini) 496 to be celebrated on February 14 in honour of the Christian martyr, Saint Valentine of Rome, who died on that date in AD 269. There are stories of Saint Valentine performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry, and that Saint Valentine later was executed. Horrible! True or not, I don’t know.

After middle ages people started to send “valentines” to each other such as greeting cards, flowers and other symbolic heart shaped gifts. That was the time when courtly love flourished. When knights performed services for ladies – to love nobly. Unfortunately, it is still not a public holiday in any country. However, I hope you will do something special this Friday since love is needed after all bombings, plane crashes, burnt coalas etc. Change is needed so we can look forward to a spring and summer filled with positive emotions. I have already given my love to sweetie and cutie, and now I share a photo from last summer in Rome. Happy Valentine. Maybe you will write a Valentine poem?

Who’s Running for President in 2020?

There is a lot going on in the USA now. Various candidates are preparing for the election this autumn. The winner of the 2020 presidential election is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 20, 2021. The race between the Democrats and the Republicans has started. For detailed information please see: Guide to US elections 2020 I The Guardian. Four years disappear so rapidly. Why do I care about politics? Frankly, because it affects our daily life such as work, economy, environmental questions etc.

Here in the Scandinavia the storm “Ciara” has just been very turbulent, but has now calmed down. It is said that these kind of storms will be more common in the future due to climate change. I don’t know if it is true, but you always want an explanation to something that happens so sudden.

I made a cake yesterday. Cosy to do something when it is stormy weather and rather cold. I could not go for exercise today since I believe that I need some time to recover. Tomorrow I will go for training again. Strength and spinning. Miss my sweetie and cutie. Sharing the photo of “Lea” that I met in Rome this summer. Her fur was so shiny perfect. She was on a walk with her family, and they were so kind to let me talk to her and also have her photo.

Sports & energy

I did a lot of exercise when I was in Norway. And luckily, I have continued with sports. It is fun and good to try new kind of sports. Right now I do a lot of spinning since I cannot run so much. Just to increase the pulse rate for a while. My watch keeps me company and is also very supportive. It reminds me of when I have been lazy. I should try to do more interval training.

Of course I miss sweetie and cutie. It is nice to go for a walk after exercise. To slow down. Since they are not with me today, I thought of all the dogs I met in Rome last summer. One of them was “Sporty” with so much energy, don’t you agree?
