West

After all impressions from the East side, I continued by tram and subway. I stopped at Alexander platz, a check point. Sunday afternoon and it was a relaxing atmosphere. Someone playing Scottish bagpipe. People playing with bungy jump from a building. Or just enjoying watching people passing by.

I continued and I was interested in seeing the West side of Berlin. I went to Savigny platz and some blocks from there I found a wonderful café where I stopped for some tea. They had a great selection and I found a tempting Ceylon tea from the highlands. It was so sweet and tasty, a great memory that made me think of the beautiful highlands in Malaysia.

And it was time to return to Tegel airport.

East meet West

I am addicted to training. Cycling done. Interval exercise and also some focus on core. So, I am back to writing. Below are some photos from the East side of Berlin. Some reminder of what was built in 1961. A symbolic division of Germany. After the wall fell (1989), it has taken a lot of time to slowly reunite the city to grow together. There was some sunshine that day by the river, and I could breath history. American, British, French, German, Russian and other nationalities living in different sectors in Berlin. Families were separated, needing visum to meet. Maybe a reflection of the end of the second world war.

The kiss on the photo below is very famous. I remember when I saw the news when I grew up that it was the way leaders greeted each other from different countries. A memory that I had completely forgotten.

There were people from all over the world watching these memories. And I got help with photos!

Berlin was Bonn

Travel makes you change state of mind. To connect old memories with new impressions completely shape new memories. A mixture. A shake. To put things into perspective. And, furthermore, to form and focus on future. Personally, it is not so healthy because I often spoil myself with goodies when travelling. So, tonight I have two hours of exercise in front of me. Need to burn calories. Life is very boring without goodies, but after turning 40 the metabolism changes. The truth is difficult to face.

So, I think of Berlin. My greatest memories will be the East side and swimming. On Sunday I went for the East side Gallery. I tried to read some history before going to Berlin but it was difficult to find. I had to remember what I was told in school.

Time to go for exercise. Will write more soon.
