🇸🇪 2023 🇺🇸

In a way, 2022 has been a little sad. I lost my dearest sweetie Lady, and I also lost an extended family member in the USA that I have known for almost four decades. Life becomes a bit different when you realize that they are not there any longer. However, the spirit is there. I remember that I have walked my sweetie so many times, also during wintertime when the roads were filled with salt. I always put her on a paw bath after walking and had her standing in water for a while. The paws dried, and then I put some ointment on her paws.

I learned a lot about being American from my late family member. Life is not as in Sweden in the USA. You are more polite in the USA, please correct me if I am wrong. Perhaps due to business being more present in daily life in the USA. I don´t know. I have been sad due to this loss, but also happy of being privileged of learning about the USA.

This makes me look forward to 2023. I am going to dedicate this year to health. I need to become more aware of habits that I might need to change. Slowly, slowly make changes in my daily routines. Today, as always, my greatest challenge is sweets. I cannot live without chocolate. Do you have a good solution for this?

Three years later, I finally feel that my feelings are settled after writing my book. My studies in Uppsala tied everything up. I will start to write again in a few years, and I already have a good theme. Yes, it is time to look forward to 2023. I have thought about what to share as the last song 2022. This is a lovely song from New York with Jay Z and Alicia Keys. Couldn´t think of anything better.

Goodbye to 2022 and gear up for 2023

2022 passed by so quickly, especially this autumn. Every day is important and I appreciate little things in life very much. This year was very much about studies for me. I have learned a lot about clinical pharmacy. In my previous studies, I have had more focus on basic pharmacological mechanisms. Today´s pharmacological treatments are getting more and more complex, and I believe, and hope, that in the future drug treatments will be more individualized. It is, for example, well-known that we may metabolize drugs slowly and/or rapidly. We also respond differently to various drugs eg neuropharmacological drugs. This is dependent upon our genes, age, gender, etc. Future will let us know.

Anyway, we have had a few days of Christmas holiday. I went to the countryside and I was very happy to see the snow and it was so chilly. I love sparkling snow and stars lightening the evenings. It was very cold and I hesitated to go for a walk with Molly, but she insisted. I have my favorite walk and I always walk by some horses. They had a little chat with Molly and me as you can see in the picture above, and we continued. Right now, I am thinking about 2023. I sometimes believe in destiny, but you can do a lot to affect your own future. Like more dog walks. Wishing you a happy ending of 2022 and a prosperous 2023.

I care a lot about animals since they cannot conduct their own defense. Therefore, I support the World Wide Fund for nature that you, readers, already know. 2022 I have been mourning my dearest sweetie Jack Russell Lady. Below is one of my favorite pictures of her. We have been on so many walks together in the countryside. You can really notice that she loves to be carried, but at the same time, her eyes reveal that she wants to experience new walks. No dog is chasing the neighbor’s cat, and the cats are happy since no dog is eating their food any longer.

In Stockholm, there has been a lot of activity at the animal zoo Skansen. Animals never escape Skansen, but a snake and some owls have had an adventure outside the zoo. It crossed my mind that it might be possible that the animals feel that there is something going on in the world. I am referring to the Ukraine war. Accumulating evidence is demonstrating that animals can sense earthquakes and even tsunamis. Long before human beings can detect. Moreover, I saw a photo in the newspaper of a Russian soldier carrying a raccoon from a Ukraine zoo. Animals are affected by the war, and I truly hope this raccoon was taken care of.

I am so happy that the Americans 🇺🇸 rapidly stated that Sweden should not be allowed to have zoos. It was terrible to read about the escaped chimpanzees that were shot at the zoo in Furuvik. Please see https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/dec/14/three-chimpanzees-shot-dead-after-escape-from-swedish-zoo

Finally, I would end by stressing the importance of washing your hands and using alcogel hand sanitizer. And keep distance when needed. There are so many viruses (season flu, covid, RS, etc) active right now. Ending by sharing some cute elephants walking.

Ukraine and Georgia

Tensions between Russia and Ukraine, but also Georgia, have been known for a long time, particularly in 2014 when Russia invaded the Crimean peninsula. A strategic location in Eastern Europe. Currently, the military-political security situation is very tense. As a citizen, of course, you can only observe. Emotions become strong when newspapers convey which robots are fired, the number of civilians killed, torture, etc. This is from both sides.
I wonder if peacekeeping forces were deployed in Ukraine after the annexation of Crimea. Considering how the political security policy situation is today, this seems less likely. This invasion cannot have come as a bolt from the blue. When will NATO start working as the UN? Inflation and energy issues concern all of us. This is not an isolated war. Not the least from a humanitarian perspective.
When this is over, trials will be held. In the same way as after the Second World War and the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s. Who will take responsibility for maintaining peace in the future?
I am sharing a newspaper clip from Upsala Nya Tidning from 2019.
